Fonte da Telha

It is located on the southern margin of the Tagus River, on the opposite side of the river from Lisbon, which are connected by the 25 de Abril Bridge.


Here is an important fishing community that settled there. In addition to the fishing activity, Fonte da Telha is a summer resort where there are 9 beaches, restaurants, bars, schools of nautical activity, a center diving.


At one end of the beach, naturism is practiced on the Adiça beach.

Troia

About an hour from Lisbon, in Setúbal, you simply take the Ferry Boat (around 20€ for a vehicle and 2 persons) across the river Sado to get to the Troia.

The Troia Peninsula is one of the most beautiful coastlines of Portugal, with around of 18km stretch of pristine sands, crystal clear waters and pine forested sand dunes… with a beautiful view for the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park.

Have fun and enjoy some water sports – perfect for windsurfing and sailing.

Take a short hike and find deserted beaches and peaceful forests… breathing within Nature.

And… it’s very common to see dolphins at this point where the river Sado meets the sea – you can taking a boat ride with time to observe them. It is always a good idea!

Following the road that crosses this spit of sand you will come to other beaches such as Comporta, Carvalhal and Pego…

Comporta

The huge sandy beach of Comporta Beach is famous for its beaches of great quality and mild weather during the summer, with white sand and a blue sea, giving it a paradisiac look.

The sea with some ripples, gives you a good conditions for kitesurfing.

Comporta is integrated in the Natural Reserve of Sado Estuary, where you can also observe more than 200 species of birds that exist here.

Beautiful place to relax looking to the sky!

Carvalhal

Very popular among surf and kitesurf lovers. There are a range of beach activities beside sun loungers and parasols.


Carvalhal Beach in Odemira, between Odeceixe and Zambujeira do Mar is one of the best beach destinations of Costa Vicentina.

It is the perfect place to spend a day surrounded by nature, whether to relax in the sun with a drink, to receive a massage, to surf or to enjoy one of our meals.

Pêgo

Pego Beach is a picture of tranquillity.


A true oasis alentejano surrounded by a long sandy-colored, with a dune system of great landscape and environmental interest. Boasts quality restaurants serving typical dishes from Alentejo.


This beach is a particular favourite for sports fishermen and often hosts competitions and championships.

Reserva Natural das Lagoas de Santo André e da Sancha

Located in the Alentejo, the Lagoas de Santo André and Sancha Natural Reserve occupies a 15km-wide coastal sector inland from the shoreline, in the municipalities of Sines and Santiago do Cacém.


The Reserve is a place of outstanding natural beauty and offers excellent conditions to practice many activities like hiking, canoeing and windsurfing, or simply strolling and relaxing in the sun on the adjacent long sandy beaches of Costa de Santo André and Fonte do Cortiço.

Sines

An old fishing town, Sines has been gradually transformed by tourism and industry.


Nowadays, it is a major port and oil-tanker terminal of great importance to the Portuguese economy.

Overlooking the bay are the ruins of a mediaeval castle, which was restored in the sixteenth century.

São Torpes 

Its strong and regular waves ensure São Torpes Beach is one of the best for surfing to be found along the entire extent of the Portuguese coastline with a number of schools available for those wishing to learn this sport.


Located right in the extreme north of the Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Natural Park, São Torpes Beach covers a long stretch of sand occasionally punctuated by rocks with its sea a noticeable couple of degrees warmer than its neighbouring beaches.

Porto Côvo

Porto Covo continues to be the friendly fishing village full of small white houses.


It is undoubtedly pretty but these days it is perhaps best to describe it as a former fishing village since the village’s economy is now driven by tourism.

It is a popular weekend getaway spot during the warmer months.


Some of the greatest attractions for visitors are the many beautiful beaches sheltered by sheer cliffs that are hidden here and there all the way along the coast.


Roughly 250 metres off the coast near Porto Covo is the abandoned Ilha do Pessegueiro, an island that has long been a great source of inspiration for poets.

Vila Nova de Milfontes

Water sports lovers can go windsurfing, sailing or canoeing on the course of the river, where the waters are much quieter.


Situated near Vila Nova de Milfontes, on the left bank of the Mira River, Furnas Beach is a fluvial beach with a strong maritime influence.


During the empty tide the beach extends beyond the mouth of the Mira River, forming small coves in the sand between the rocks.

Almograve

With two very distinct parts, Almograve is one of the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Alentejana.


On one side, the beach of rocks and cliffs of shale, on the other, the sandy beach against the dunes.


There is showers, sport fishing, good conditions for bodyboarding and surfing.

Zambujeira do Mar 

Zambujeira do Mar is surrounded by high cliffs, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama over the ocean.


Bathed by a sea of strong waves, with good conditions for surfing and bodyboarding, the beach is located next to Zambujeira do Mar, with direct access.


Very crowded during the summer, this region registers a huge influx of young people who, during the first weekend of August, attend the Festival of the Southwest, one of the most important music festivals in Portugal.

Amália

Beach that was named after the greatest fado singer of all time. Although it is called Praia do Brejão, nowadays, everyone knows it as Praia da Amália.

Praia da Amália was well known because the fado singer spent a vacation here, near the sea, in search of inspiration and rest. The holiday home is still open and welcomes tourists, taking in a privileged view over the coast.

A site of great natural beauty, the Beach has a small port with many fishing boats, which may be hired to get out to the best spots for underwater fishing.

One such place is the first bay to the north with its coloured stone contrasting with the sandy seabed or alternatively off the southernmost tip where the seabed is composed of cracked stone slabs.

Odeceixe

Located at the mouth of Ribeira de Seixe, a pleasant place for boat or canoe trips, Odeceixe Beach allows you to choose between sea or river bathing.

During low tide, the small lagoons that form on the long sandy beach are much appreciated by children.

With very easy access from the town of Odeceixe, it is one of the best known beaches in the region.

Vale dos Homens

Aljezur represents the perfect base from which to set off and explore the marvellous beaches of the western Algarve including Vale dos Homens, a true oasis of calm and beauty.

Popular among surfers, given the regular incidence of strong waves, and naturists, the Beach has a lifeguard throughout the official bathing season.

Amoreira

This huge beach is flanked by dunes and to the north by a dark rock formation that, according to locals, forms the shape of a giant lying down.

As Amoreira Beach lies on the mouth of a small river there is the option between freshwater or saltwater swimming.

Access is via a tarmac road that begins in Aljezur some 8 kilometres away with the Beach equipped with the full range of facilities and services.

Arrifana

Located in a bay enclosed by tall cliffs and with local residences harmoniously sloping down almost to the water’s edge, Arrifana Beach provides an excellent example of balance between human settlement and the natural environment.

The ruins of the old fortress are ideal for some of the best views over the surroundings.

With all the necessary infrastructures of a coastal resort, the Beach is a year round favourite with surfers and bodyboarders.

Bordeira

Nearby the village of Carrapateira from where access is gained via a tarmac road, the wonderful Bordeira Beach extends over a broad stretch of sand that becomes one of the largest on the Algarve coast during low tide.

A small river reaches the sea here and often forms a lagoon that is always a big hit with children.

Somewhat off the beaten track of sunbathers, Bordeira is in great demand among surfers and bodyboarders.

Cordoama

With its broad sandy expanse connecting at low tide to the neighbouring Beaches of Castelejo and Barriga, Cordoama Beach is part of a stretch of highly beautiful coastline that makes up the Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Natural Park.


The strong and regular waves ensure that Cordoama Beach provides excellent conditions for both surfing and bodyboarding.

Sagres

The village of Sagres was rebuilt over the ruins of the 1755 earthquake – with the most southerly port in continental Europe where fishermen still sell their fishing.


The Algarve has gained a reputation as one of the best surfing spots in Europe, with Sagres being one of its central points.


Its position in the lower corner of Portugal means that there is almost always excellent surfing conditions.

Zavial

According to the specialists, its long and tubular waves may be ideal for surfing and bodyboarding but Zavial Beach has other attractions to offer.


Surrounded by high and often sheer cliffs, which protect from all strong winds, this is a very popular beach although the eastern side of the beach is far less so and has been taken up by naturists.

Burgau

It is a typical fishing port overlooking the sea, in a quiet and family atmosphere.

Sheltered between the cliffs, it is a beach protected from the wind, still little known but already receives many bodyboarders.
